I don’t want to be this girl but jumping the gun and making the Christological connections that the lectionary is heavy-handed in making while often awful could be done in a way to lift up the embodied trans experience of some who may or may not be in the congregation. While the rhetoric of bigotry and hate has been forefront in the national dialogue and has added file to the violence agonist trans folx, making a connection between the feminine Lady Wisdom being incarnated into a masculine Christ could provide needed representation of the trans body from the text. A sermon like this provides hope for queer folx to be seen as the image of God that they are and help the straights not to think of trans folx as the monsters that society treats them as.
